NYPD officer accused of raping young relative in incidents dating back 5 years: cops, sources

An NYPD officer was arrested for allegedly raping a young relative in Brooklyn on multiple occasions dating back five years, cops and sources said. Officer Joshua Acosta, 39, was arrested Wednesday night in connection to the sick ordeal that began in 2021 and continued through last month, according to authorities and law enforcement sources. The victim was a minor when the sex crimes allegedly occurred, but the exact age is unclear.He was arrested in south Brooklyn and charged with three counts each of rape and sexual misconduct, two counts of course of sexual conduct against a child, and a single count of acting in a manner injurious to a child, police said.Acosta – who is assigned to a unit that works with cops facing lawsuits related to their actions on the job, according to online department records – has since been suspended without pay, cops said.He joined the department in 2014, the records show.
