Everyone loves a nice ice cream treat on a hot summer day.But for one golfer, an ice cream cone became more than just a treat – it may have become a good luck charm. While Charley Hull opened the Evian Championship with two bogeys on her first six holes, she quickly turned it around and played her last 12 holes in 7-under par. During the hot stretch, she stopped to hold an ice cream cone mid-round. But contrary to what many think, she didn’t swallow any ice cream. “I didn’t eat the ice cream.

My boyfriend got it for my caddie, so I held it for a minute when he was putting my club in the bag,” Hull told reporters.Hull said she does eat during golf tournaments, but her dietary plan is more nutritious, including items like bars and bananas. “I always eat every other hole,” Hull said.“So I eat on the third, the fifth, and the seventh, and then just every hole in pretty much.”Although Hull said she didn’t have ice cream, her turnaround was still sparked by confidence and resilience. “I kind of just believed in myself and just kind of relaxed out there and took my time and took advantage of the birdies,” she said. After being forced to withdraw from last year’s Evian Championship due to an illness, Hull is currently playing her 11th event of the season. Before missing the cut at the Women’s PGA, she finished in the top 10 at the Chevron and in the top 2 at the U.S.

Women’s Open.Despite a rocky start, Hull currently sits in the top three at Evian and three back of Aki Iwai’s lead at 8 under. “Very lucky to be here – it’s almost like a little holiday,” Hull said of being at the tournament....
