Dodgers Justin Wrobleski makes All-Star Game after all

Ever since All-Star rosters were first released last week, the Dodgers had been campaigning for Justin Wrobleski not to be snubbed.On Saturday, salvation arrived for the young left-hander.Three days before the game, he learned he had been picked as an All-Star after all.The selection came as a replacement on the National League pitching staff, after Cincinnati Reds right-hander Chase Burns opted out of the event.Wrobleski will now take his place, going to Philadelphia with a 10-2 record and 2.69 ERA.That Wrobleski hadn’t made the Midsummer Classic already was a point of frustration for both him and the Dodgers.The 25-year-old left-hander acknowledged disappointment earlier this week, saying he could  only hope to “gain the respect of players and everybody else and maybe be in there next year.” Manager Dave Roberts also went to bat for him, arguing “I just think that he’s performed enough to earn that opportunity.” California's top news, sports and entertainment delivered to your inbox every day.
