Global prosecutors downfall clears Netanyahu but damns the International Criminal Court

The misbegotten International Criminal Court is in big trouble, and not just because Secretary of State Marco Rubio just announced Team Trump’s intent to dismantle it.Days before Rubio’s bombshell, news leaked that the ICC’s top leadership had secretly voted to suspend Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan, resolving longstanding sex-assault allegations after an internal investigation found he had engaged in “serious misconduct” and a “serious breach of duty.” Worse for the ICC, this shows that Khan’s indictment of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for supposed war crimes (in Israel’s response to Hamas’ Oct.7, 2023 invasion) really was just the prosecutor trying to escape justice himself by waving the “Palestine” flag.Khan still insists the allegations are false, but his own superiors plainly disagree.But they did try to keep the news quiet, likely because Third World regimes are so important to the ICC’s governance, along with lefty global activists — key reasons Rubio ID’d as rendering the court fundamentally corrupt.We’d be shocked if any of this news shamed Mayor Zohran Mamdani or his fellow travelers into dropping their regular, now plainly baseless claims that Bibi is an international criminal, because the Israel-haters universally put propaganda ahead of truth.But if the ICC has any hope of holding on, it needs to start cleaning up its own house or stand exposed as an International Kangaroo Court....
