CBS News star Norah ODonnell announces major career move

Norah O’Donnell is putting women’s health in the spotlight with a new podcast that she says will cut through misinformation.The veteran CBS News journalist will debut “Healthful” on July 22, marking her latest role at the network after stepping down from the anchor chair at the “Evening News “last year.“Every week I want to bring you the latest science and trusted medical expertise,” O’Donnell says in the trailer for the weekly show, which features conversations with doctors and researchers on topics including menopause, reproductive health, cancer, the gut microbiome and women’s sexual health.“Our goal is simple … to deliver fact-based information that you can trust,” she says.The podcast will also include a recurring segment dubbed “Turning the Tables,” in which guests get to quiz O’Donnell about her own health habits and wellness routine.O’Donnell told Women’s Health magazine that the podcast is designed to answer the questions many women struggle to navigate amid an overload of conflicting medical advice.“I’m introducing women to the world’s leading experts on all these things that we want to know more about at a time where we have all this access to information, and yet many of us are more confused than ever,” she said.The 52-year-old journo said reporting the series exposed her to topics she hadn’t previously encountered, including the rise of lung cancer among women who have never smoked.Health and fitness play a central role in O’Donnell’s own routine.She told Women’s Health she works with trainer Kira Stokes several times a week on strength and mobility exercises, plays tennis on weekends, takes walks after dinner and starts most mornings with a smoothie made with blueberries, turmeric, Greek yogurt, almond butter and creatine before heading to work.O’Donnell has spent roughly three decades as one of the top names in television news.After beginning her career covering Congress for Roll Call, she joined N...
