Bettors are flocking to Giants futures odds in staggering numbers
The Giants have a lot to prove this season, and bettors are buying in early.Giants training camp doesn’t open for another two weeks, but bettors have been hammering their futures odds over the summer, specifically win totals and odds to make the playoffs.BetMGM opened the Giants’ win total for this season at 7.5 with the Under priced at -135 and the Over at +110.Gamblers pounced on those odds immediately, making the Giants’ win total the most bet at the sportsbook — 91 percent of bets on the Giants’ win total are on Over 7.5 as well as 94 percent of the money.It’s a similar story when looking at their odds to make the playoffs, which opened at +310 and have moved to +260 since.
The Giants have been the second-most bet team to make the playoffs in terms of tickets and have received the fourth-most money in that market behind the Lions, Jets and Raiders.Bettors have been jumping on the Giants bandwagon since the NFL Draft in April when a surge of money began flooding toward their odds to win the Super Bowl.Much of that optimism is tied to their new head coach John Harbaugh, who is the favorite to win NFL Coach of the Year at BetMGM with +500 odds.In Harbaugh’s 18 years in Baltimore, the Ravens were under .500 just three times and failed to win at least eight games just once.The Ravens also made the playoffs 12 times, tied with the Chiefs for the third-most appearances in that span.Harbaugh will need to work his magic on a Giants team that struggled through a 4-13 season, which included a nine-game losing streak that spanned mid-October through late December.
