US blitzes Iranian missile depots, air defenses on 8th consecutive night of strikes after two servicemembers killed in Jordan
US forces launched their eighth consecutive night of attacks targeting Iranian military infrastructure late Saturday.The latest round of strikes struck coastal surveillance and air defense facilities, maritime capabilities, and missile and drone storage sites to continue degrading Iranian military capabilities, US Central Command announced on X.Fighter jets and missiles were launched off aircraft carriers and destroyers as explosions took out targets in mountainous regions of Iran, according to video shared by the combatant command.“More than 50,000 US men and women in uniform are operating across the Middle East.They remain highly vigilant, focused, lethal, and ready,” read a statement released by the combatant command.The blitz began at 6 p.m.
and ended at around 11:30 p.m.Saturday.CENTCOM also said the attacks on Tehran were intended to swiftly punish Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.The American attacks are the latest back and forth between the two nations, and come after a wave of Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks killed two US service members at Muwawffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan, with a third MIA.Four other service members were medically evacuated to Jordanian hospitals but were later discharged.President Trump called the deaths “a shame” but argued the mission remains critical.“They did it because they don’t want to see Iran have a nuclear weapon,” Trump said of the troops in an exclusive call with The Post Saturday.
