Carlos Beltran reveals he spoke to Mets about manager job and why he turned it down

Carlos Beltran revealed on Monday that he spoke with members of the Mets organization about being their manager again after the firing of Carlos Mendoza.Beltran, who is currently an advisor for the Mets, was hired as their manager after the 2019 season but lasted just two months before parting ways due to being named in the Astros sign-stealing scandal.“Yes, I had conversations with a few people within the organization.And, I don’t know, I just didn’t feel it was the right thing for me to do,” Beltran told reporters.Beltran did say being a manager is on his “bucket list” but he enjoys his current work with the Mets’ decision-makers.“I gotta think deeply about what my next step is gonna be,” Beltran said.The Mets fired Mendoza last month after a 34-47 start to the season and named Andy Green as their interim manager.Beltran gushed about Mendoza’s character.“I have to tell you that the respect that I had for Carlos Mendoza when Carlos was part of the Mets is super top.
