Las Vegas sportsbook employees cartoonish attempt to rob his own workplace ends in epic failure

A Las Vegas sportsbook employee allegedly bet he could rob his own workplace and get away with it — then made one catastrophically bad wager by returning for his next shift carrying nearly all the evidence, according to a stunning report.The newly hired employee allegedly threatened staff with a knife while stealing roughly $28,000 from the William Hill Sportsbook at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas last week, local insider Scott Roeben reported on his VitalVegas blog.The masked suspect fled with the cash, but surveillance footage exposed a glaring hole in his plan.Cameras captured the employee entering a casino restroom before the robbery without a disguise and leaving the same bathroom wearing a mask, according to Roeben, who cited an inside source who’s familiar with the incident.Although casinos generally do not monitor the inside of restrooms, cameras are otherwise pretty much impossible to avoid in Sin City.As such, investigators reportedly identified the suspected robber within about 12 minutes of reviewing the footage.
