Blind man killed after accidentally turning on oven and setting jacket on fire

A blind man was horrifyingly killed after accidentally turning on an oven and setting his jacket on fire inside a South Carolina apartment, according to reports.Jerry Martin Ellis, 73, was found dead inside his residence in Anderson after authorities received a 911 call about a fire on Sunday morning, Fox Carolina reported.
Ellis, who was blind, accidentally turned on his oven and lit his jacket ablaze, a preliminary investigation found, according to the outlet.His cause of death was ruled accidental due to smoke inhalation secondary to thermal burns, the coroner’s office said.Ellis enjoyed hiking in the mountains and near waterfalls and was a fond listener of Creedence Clearwater Revival and Rod Stewart, according to his obituary.He was also an avid South Carolina Gamecocks fan and loved his poodle, Ginger, the obituary added.
Ellis is survived by his two sons and sister.The coroner’s office and the Anderson County Fire Department Headquarters are continuing to investigate the incident....
