The lift of the ban reportedly applies only to T1 and T2 variety pyrotechnics, fully controllable effects designed for short distances.High-altitude fireworks will not be featured, and any planned effects may be adjusted or cancelled at any time if conditions change.
Tomorrowland’s fireworks have long been a lynchpin of the festival’s production, and their absence during the first weekend left a palpable gap in the experience.The ban had been imposed jointly by the mayors of Boom and Rumst after Belgium’s fire risk index placed the region under Code Orange, its second-highest alert level, where it remains.
In a statement, organizers said the drought situation and fireworks use are being assessed daily in consultation with authorities, adding that they are “taking further preventive measures, including a permanent fire watch and extra security in the vicinity of the MainStage.” Personal barbecues and cooking appliances remain prohibited at the DreamVille campsite, with supervised cooking areas available in designated locations.Tomorrowland’s second weekend kicks off today with performances from Alesso, Steve Angello, David Guetta and many more.
