The league has done aways with team captains, instead WNBA Hall of Famers Cynthia Cooper and Teresa Weatherspoon are the teams’ general managers and they drafted the players.The top two fan vote-getters were assigned to opposing teams via a coin flip to ensure balanced rosters; Dallas guard Paige Bueckers went to Team Coop, while Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark will play for Team Spoon.Breanna Stewart and Jonquel Jones will be on hand to represent the Liberty, though they’ll play on different teams today.
In honor of the WNBA’s 30th season, a new initiative where All-Star teams will compete for a $100,000 charity prize pool will be implemented.The winning team’s Chicago-based organization will be awarded $70,000, while the runner up’s charity of choice will get $30,000.
