YES, MSG make drastic change to streaming Yankees, Knicks games

MSG and YES networks are ditching the Gotham Sports app and moving to DAZN as their streaming home beginning this fall in a landmark deal for the London-based platform. The agreement, announced Wednesday morning in a joint release by MSG Networks and YES Network, will move live streaming coverage of the Yankees, Knicks, Rangers, Islanders, Nets and Sabres games.Additionally, 24/7 feeds of MSG, MSG Sportsnet and YES Network will be available to stream on DAZN, as well as on-demand content. The streams will be available to subscribers within the network’s respective coverage area, and those who already subscribe to either regional sports network as part of their TV package will continue to have streaming access via DAZN at no added cost.No prices were announced Wednesday, but the Gotham Sports App monthly plan costs area sports fans $34.99 and an annual subscription is $299.99, with cheaper options for single-game viewing on MSG Networks, day viewing for YES Network and monthly and annual plans for the individual networks. The change means that both RSNs will be moving away from the Gotham Sports, which had been a collaboration between MSG Networks and YES Network to bundle their sports offerings together in a direct-to-consumer streaming offering. Wednesday’s announcement did not say when the switch to DAZN would take place or provide other details, other than to say the move will come during the 2026-27 NBA and NHL seasons. Yankees fans will not have to switch apps during the current baseball season, a YES Network spokesperson confirmed to The Post. Area sports fans who already subscribe to the Gotham Sports app will not face any interruption to their access to content as the networks prepare to migrate to DAZN. “We have great momentum with our Gotham Sports App and all of our viewing metrics and subscription numbers,” YES Network President & CEO Jon Litner told Sports Business Journal.“But as we sort of look out into the future, we are always ...
