Fauci stonewalled the Senate Homeland Security Committee, invoking the Fifth Amendment over 100 times, as lawmakers grilled him on COVID-19’s origin and details in a personal diary that chronicled his transformation from government official to celebrity as millions of Americans suffered from the disease. Former Fox News meteorologist Janice Dean, who lost both her mother-in-law and father-in-law to COVID-19, accused the former COVID czar of putting fame ahead of the American people – calling his repeated invocation of the Fifth Amendment “another slap in the face” to grieving families.“It was extremely difficult for me to watch the hearings today to witness a man who, like our former disgraced governor Andrew Cuomo, used a pandemic to enrich himself, lie to the public and decide that fame was more important than the lives of millions of Americans,” Dean told The Post.“His reliance on the Fifth Amendment was another slap in the face of family members who lost loved ones because of failed leadership and his deadly decisions,” she fumed.
