Brownies & Lemonade Confirms Seattle Center Show, Boosts Security After Deadly Shooting

Two died at the scene and four others, including a two-year-old boy, were taken to Harborview Medical Center with gunshot wounds, according to the Seattle Fire Department.A 15-year-old was arrested for his suspected role in the shooting and has been formally charged with first-degree assault with a firearm and second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, according to the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

His identity has not been released because he is a minor, though prosecutors are reportedly seeking to convict him as an adult.A second suspect, 19-year-old Junior Cee Niko Semo, died at the scene while a third remains at large, according to local reports.

However, there is “no outstanding threat to the community,” Assistant Seattle Police Chief Tyrone Davis said at a press conference.Attendees reported that ‘Bite of Seattle’ had no metal detectors or security checkpoints upon entry.

Saturday’s event hosted by Brownies & Lemonade is ticketed and will feature perimeter fencing, metal detector screening and onsite law enforcement throughout the day, per KOMO News.The organization released a statement across its social media channels this week, noting it has been coordinating with the venue, the Seattle Police Department, the Seattle Fire Department and its own security partners to “review and strengthen” its existing safety plan.
