Tarik Skubal set to make Dodgers debut at historic ballpark

The Dodgers are adding a new ace to their already star-studded starting rotation.And, as president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman said on Sunday, they won’t have to wait long to see him make his team debut.A day after acquiring two-time Cy Young Award winner Tarik Skubal in a blockbuster move with the Tigers on Saturday, Friedman said the left-hander is set to make his first start with the team on Tuesday in Chicago.That means Skubal’s Dodgers debut will come at historic Wrigley Field, against a fellow National League contender in the Cubs — another team that, according to reports, was involved in the Skubal sweepstakes.It also means his Dodger Stadium debut is likely to come during next week’s homestand, probably during the team’s series against the Royals.Skubal was expected to be at Dodger Stadium in time for the start of Sunday night’s game against the Red Sox.He had been in Sacramento on Saturday night, where the Tigers were playing a road series against the Athletics.In his first comments after the trade, Skubal said he was saddened to leave the Tigers — the team that drafted him in 2017 and watched him blossom into the best pitcher in baseball — but that he was also already looking forward to his next chapter in Los Angeles.“I’m excited to be a Dodger,” he said Saturday night.“I’m excited to get down there and meet all those guys, and chase three championships in a row.”...
