Trade deadline day is here.The Dodgers have already accomplished their main Tarik Skubal-sized mission.But that doesn’t mean there isn’t still work left to do –– or worries to address.In the final hours before Monday’s 3 p.m.deadline strikes, efforts will be made to optimize the team’s present and future.For now, however, president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman said it is “less likely” any further additions will be made to the team’s big-league roster, even after a series sweep to the Red Sox that highlighted a few remaining deficiencies.“They outplayed us,” manager Dave Roberts said following an 8-4 loss on Sunday that handed the Dodgers their second series sweep this year.

“They were hungrier … It’s not an excuse.”While there was blame to go around over the last three days –– from base-running mistakes, to a couple poor starting/bulk pitching performances, to an offense that managed just four hits and one run after a three-run second inning Sunday –– the biggest concern lately has been with the bullpen, which is sporting a bottom-10 ERA in the majors since its record-setting 38-inning scoreless streak was snapped in late May. Edwin Díaz is back, but Brock Stewart and Will Klein are now on the injured list.The team’s other right-handed options are largely scuffling.

And a unit that looked like such a strength earlier this season now might be the team’s biggest weakness.Yet, according to sources with knowledge of the team’s plan, no external relief reinforcements are expected to be added.The main reason for that, of course, is because of the Dodgers’ newfound rotation depth.Blake Snell, Tyler Glasnow and Shohei Ohtani remain sidelined for now (though Snell is one rehab start away from returning, Glasnow is beginning a rehab stint that should have him back within a month, and Ohtani is finally scheduled to begin a throwing program again when the Dodgers arrive in Chicago for a road trip this week).But once th...
