Mystery deepens as cause of death revealed for top SoCal plastic surgeon found dead in backyard pool

The mystery surrounding the death of a prominent California plastic surgeon has deepened after officials revealed she drowned, but still can’t determine how she first ended up in the backyard pool.Sarwa Ama Aldoori, 71, was found dead in a swimming pool behind an upscale Bakersfield home on June 30, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.Now, a forensic postmortem examination by the Kern County coroner’s office has determined that Aldoori’s cause of death was drowning, per KGET.But the circumstances surrounding the death remain murky.The coroner ruled the manner of death “undetermined,” meaning officials have not concluded whether Aldoori’s death was accidental, intentional or the result of another circumstance.Aldoori was found dead in a backyard pool at a home in the 1400 block of Pineglen Drive in northeast Bakersfield, police said.The investigation remains active.
The unsettling discovery came years after Aldoori built a career as a physician in Bakersfield, where she reportedly spent roughly 35 years working in OB-GYN surgery.She was one of two doctors associated with Bella Health and Beauty, a northeast Bakersfield plastic surgery center.According to the practice’s website, Aldoori specialized in women’s health and wellness as well as cosmetic surgery.But her professional history also included a major disciplinary battle with California medical regulators.Aldoori surrendered her California medical license in March 2024 after the Medical Board of California accused her of failing to comply with the terms of a seven-year probation.The disciplinary case dated back to allegations filed in 2021 concerning a cosmetic procedure performed in 2016.According to state records, Aldoori was accused of lacking sufficient training to perform a liposuction and tummy tuck procedure on a patient who later died in April 2016.The patient’s death was attributed to a fat embolism, a potentially fatal complication in which fat enters the bloodstream and c...
