49ers face jarring number of injuries ahead of season

Bodies appear to be dropping like flies as the San Francisco 49ers ended Wednesday’s practice short of 20 players from their 90-man roster.Notable players who didn’t practice include Nick Bosa (soreness), Dre Greenlaw (soreness), Kyle Juszcyk (finger), Mike Evans (quad), De’Zhaun Stribling (hamstring), Christian Kirk (calf) and Malik Mustapha (hamstring). While Bosa and Greenlaw were dealing with soreness, a majority of the wide receiver room is already sidelined by various injuries.Ricky Pearsall is set to undergo a season-ending surgery, depleting an already thin group for San Francisco. Moreover, defensive lineman Sam Okuayinonu went off the field Wednesday with an apparent ankle issue during training camp.
The jarring number of injuries could force the 49ers to cancel their joint practice with the Tennessee Titans on Aug.11 if the team doesn’t have enough healthy bodies to participate.
