Vogue fashionistas to swarm California city once dubbed the land that style forgot

The world capital of corporate vests and “foot condoms” has landed one of the world’s top high-fashion events — as Vogue revealed San Francisco as the site of its Vogue World event next year.“Vogue believes in celebrating cities, and San Francisco is a city like none other,” said Anna Wintour, Condé Nast’s chief content officer and the global editorial director of Vogue,” in a statement.
“It’s a place of diverse communities living side by side, a place that loves the arts, loves creativity, and isn’t afraid of change.”San Francisco was once dubbed the “land that style forgot” by famed fashion writer Guy Trebay — as others have noted San Franciscans’ love of Rockports, tech company T-shirts, “dress sweatpants” and other fog-friendly attire.The Vogue World conference has made stops in fashion meccas New York, London and Milan, and next year’s event will be its first stateside conference in years.
“I love that San Francisco has always stood up for its values, and the things it believes in.We think it’s the perfect setting for Vogue World 2027,” Wintour added.
A “Vogue World: Hollywood” event in 2025 brought together entertainers such as Doja Cat, Gracie Abrams, Nicole Kidman, Kendall Jenner, and other stars to the Paramount lot in Los Angeles. Mayor Daniel Lurie celebrated the Vogue event as a sign of the city’s upswing after years of decline.“Creativity and free expression have been the engine of San Francisco for generations, and that spirit will be on full display at Vogue World 2027,” Lurie said in a statement....
