The Red Sox train just keeps on rolling.And now they have added their most dramatic win, one that ended close to midnight in a 12-11 victory over the White Sox at Fenway Park.The Red Sox picked up their eighth consecutive win on Thursday in a marathon 13-inning contest where Boston staged several comebacks and became the first team in the modern era to score in five separate innings in the ninth or later in one game.It was the third-longest regular season game in the pitch-clock era at four hours and 23 minutes.After rallies in the ninth, tenth, eleventh, and twelfth innings, Caleb Durbin finally sealed the win with a walkoff RBI single to send automatic runner Nick Sogard home in the thirteenth.

It took five comebacks for the Red Sox to get the win, starting with digging out of a 4-0 hole in the third inning, when Connor Wong’s home run put the Red Sox on the board and started the back-and-forth marathon.After securing their second straight sweep, Boston is now 26-3 since July 3.“It ranks at the top of the list, I would say,” interim manager Chad Tracy said of the victory postgame.Tracy’s squad, which he inherited in late April after Alex Cora was fired when the team was 10-17, keeps on rolling through some of the best teams in the league.It began with three wins off the AL Central-leading White Sox in early July before a four-game sweep of the Rays right out of the break and last weekend’s sweep of the Dodgers in Los Angeles.“I can speak from the other side from the last six years that this team, especially the last couple of years, this team is a pain in the butt [to play against] and they’re relentless, a bunch of great players, they hustle everywhere,” backup catcher Jake Rogers, acquired alongside Adley Rutschman from Baltimore at the deadline, said postgame.The Red Sox, now 63-51 heading into play Friday, are now just a half-game back of the Yankees for second in the AL East and five back of the Rays for first. ...
