Meet Jordan Simpson, the Mets fan and musician making waves with viral songs to recap series

He said he couldn’t play instruments with the noises, and chucked his phone on the ground.But once he checked his phone, it was a flood of follows, retweets and likes after his video recreating the Mets’ SNY theme song went viral on social media.“I’m like, ‘Oh wait,’ my video is doing that?” Simpson said.“I’m like, ‘Oh shoot, OK, then that’s something.’ So that was pretty cool.”The video — which featured Simpson, 27, drumming and playing instruments to SNY’s years-long pregame theme song — aired on the network before the Mets’ 2023 season opener.

But it more importantly established Simpson as a prominent baseball content creator — he’s amassed tens of thousands of social media followers by blending his passions for the Mets and music to produce Mets-related songs for fans recapping every series.“I tend to always conceptually combine baseball and music together,” Simpson said.“There are a lot of parallels in different ways, but I think in terms of combining music with the Mets, it kind of just became a thing where I didn’t think too deeply about it, but obviously those are my two passions.”Simpson was constantly around music growing up.

He began playing drums at just 1 ½ years old before doing nearly every ensemble in middle and high school.With his sister Devin, Simpson also often attended his father’s wedding band rehearsals, where they’d take notes of what sounded right and wrong and offer their opinion on certain performances.Devin said she and her brother grew up listening to artists like Earth, Wind and Fire, Journey, and Stevie Nicks.“We had a full library in the Simpson house, and we’d have family jam sessions sometimes,” Devin said.“Jordan and I, when we were kids...
