Deranged criminals own family fears his release after string of terrifying street encounters: He completely flipped

The family of the deranged North Carolina career criminal accused of terrorizing women in a string of alarming street encounters had repeatedly begged authorities to get him off the streets, according to his sister.Di-Quan Schafar Hunt, 32, was arrested Thursday after a series of self-recorded videos of him chasing and attacking strangers in Charlotte went viral online.Hunt has a lengthy criminal past, with at least nine arrests and a recent habit of attacking neighbors at random in the Dilworth neighborhood, his sister confirmed to WSOC.  “He completely just flipped, and that turned into violence.And we had to call the cops then,” she said.  Hunt’s sister, who declined to give her name or appear on camera, also told reporters that Hunt has displayed violent behavior towards family members and that relatives have repeatedly tried to get him help.She believes Hunt has been diagnosed with PTSD and bipolar disorder, but has refused to take medication.

The family fears what could happen if Hunt is released again without receiving treatment.The sister says the alleged attacks have put her family at risk and she hopes the victims of her brother’s attacks see justice.In one of the undated videos, Hunt walks down the street as a woman approaches from the opposite direction.He can be heard angrily referring to a previous incident before lashing out and knocking the unsuspecting victim to the ground.“You still talking,” he screamed during the assault.In a separate video, Hunt is seen shoving a woman and charging after her and ranting about McDonald’s as he chases her around a car.“You wanna run bitch, you wanna run motherf–ker, huh? I betcha run again motherf–ker,” he yells in the video.Hunt’s sister said that she reported video evidence to police last Monday and contacted officers on Thursday to provide his location.  ...
