Martinez knifeman who allegedly butchered man on California street was released just a day earlier

A knifeman who allegedly stabbed a 68-year-old man to death in broad daylight had been released from jail just a day earlier.Marcos Iriarte-Valdez, 36, was originally arrested over a spate of burglaries on April 29, before he was released then rearrested for breaching his home detention last Tuesday.During a court appearance on Wednesday a judge ordered him freed on his own recognizance and referred him back to the home detention monitoring program.Iriarte-Valdez allegedly killed Todd Stewart outside his home in a terrifying attack caught on video in Martinez, near the Bay Area, California on Thursday.Surveillance footage shows Iriarte-Valdez pulling up in a Cadillac SUV wearing dark jeans, a gray shirt and a tactical vest.He stayed inside the vehicle for a brief period before exiting and allegedly launching the brutal knife attack on Stewart.The two men were seen struggling on the sidewalk between two parked cars before the victim was knocked to the ground.According to police, Iriarte-Valdez continued to stab Stewart repeatedly as he lay on the pavement screaming for help.California's top news, sports and entertainment delivered to your inbox every day.
