However, chaos, including a 17-minute delay, ensued when a run was actually awarded to the Sox despite the costly mistake.Center fielder Brett Bateman made the catch and threw the ball into the infield.Once the ball was thrown to first before Nick Sogard could return, the inning appeared to be over.
