Magic Johnson makes championship promise after historic Lakers sale

The Los Angeles Lakers are changing hands once again.The iconic NBA franchise was sold to businessmen Josh Kushner and ex-Disney executive Bob Iger for about $12.5 billion, less than 18 months after Mark Walter bought the Lakers for $10 billion.Many Lakers fans are seeking an idea about how to feel about their team’s new ownership.Lakers legend and former owner, Magic Johnson, provided his own opinion that should have fans excited in the wake of this sale.“Laker fans, you couldn’t have two better owners.

I’ve known Bob personally for over 40 years – he has always loved the Lakers and basketball and he will bring championships back to LA,” Johnson wrote.Johnson, who was part of an ownership group that purchased the Los Angeles Dodgers for a staggering $2.15 billion in October of 2012, was formerly the Lakers’ President of Basketball Operations.

Johnson won five championships during his 13-season stint with the Lakers are is still largely considered the greatest point guard in NBA history.It will be fascinating to see how the Lakers fare under their new ownership.Their championship prospects don’t look as good with LeBron James no longer on the roster, but the team still seems to be in a good place with Luka Doncic, Austin Reaves, and Walker Kessler in the starting lineup.Johnson is an extremely successful entrepreneur, and surely respects the fact that Walter flipped the Lakers for $2.5 billion in less than two years....
