Luxury $9.1 million superyacht sinks days after being delivered to new owner

A 98-foot superyacht worth a whopping $9.1 million sank into the Mediterranean Sea just days after it had been delivered to its new owner.Fourteen guests and crew were on The Angiola II Tuesday off the coast of popular resort town Porto Cervo, Sardinia, when an engine failure sparked a fire and the ship began taking on water, according to the Telegraph.Dramatic footage shows the massive vessel capsized on its side, slowly submerging below the surf.Miraculously, no injuries were reported and most of those onboard were rescued by a nearby ship.The owner — believed to be an Italian businessman who has not been named — and another passenger were reportedly the last to abandon ship, waiting until Italian authorities arrived to take them to land, The Sun reported.After the rescue, the half-sunk yacht was secured on the ocean floor to keep it in place.Officials said it does not appear that any fuel had leaked.The now-wrecked Angiola II had been delivered to the owner just four days earlier.The Amer F100 yacht, built by Italian shipbuilder Permare in 2020, can host up to 10 guests in five cabins as well as five crew members, the Telegraph reported. The four-engine vessel has four engines and can reach a speed of 28 knots, or just over 32 miles, per hour.Italian authorities are preparing to deploy a 220-ton pontoon boat to retrieve the ship from the wreckage site.The incident is under investigation by the Italian Coast Guard....
