Trump unveils FBI crime report showing violent crime drop at record rate deploys new attack line on Dems

WASHINGTON – Violent crime rates in the US have plummeted with their biggest one-year drop on record, according to a new FBI report that President Trump touted Friday as evidence that he’s “making America safe again.” The 2025 Uniform Crime Report showed violent crime was down 9.3% from the previous year, murder was down 18.1%, rape decreased by 7.6%, robbery was down 18.5%, aggravated assault decreased 7.2%, and motor vehicle theft was down 22.7%.“Every single number is the lowest number in recorded history,” he said of the new report.“We have the best crime record in recorded history,” Trump, who’s portrayed himself as a law-and-order president, said during a Long Island stop.The Trump administration has embraced policies that helped fight crime rates: cracking down on criminal migrants, decreasing the number of immigrants trying to illegally cross the border and sending National Guard to big cities like Washington D.C. The focus of Friday’s event on Long Island was the crime-fighting efforts, a change from the economic policies Trump has touted as he tries to rally his MAGA base to the polls this November.Rows of police officers in uniform stood behind the president in his remarks as he saluted their work.

“We ended the war on police, and we declared a very strong war on crime,” Trump said.And he pivoted to attacking Democratic policies, reviving his favorite new moniker for them: Dumbocrats.“Their policies are so dumb,” he said.“Fighting to defund the police.
