Raiders sign former Texans starting DT to bolster defensive line

On Saturday, The Las Vegas Raiders placed linebacker Brennan Jackson on the injured/reserve list with a foot injury sustained in Thursday’s preseason opener.That opened a roster spot, and the Raiders made use of it, signing a veteran offensive tackle ahead of their second preseason game against the Houston Texans.Las Vegas signed Folorunso Fatukasi on Saturday, a player familiar with the Raiders’ upcoming opponent.

Fatukasi spent the past two seasons with Houston, where he was a starter in 12 of the 15 games he played for the Texans.The eight-year NFL veteran played just four games (started one) in 2025, before his season was cut short due to injury.In 2024, Fatukasi started all 11 games that he appeared in for Texans.

The defensive tackle posted 24 combined tackles, four tackles for loss, three quarterback hits and one sack for one of the league’s best defenses.Fatukasi was drafted by the New York Jets as a sixth-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.He spent the first four seasons of his career with the Jets, where he started 15 games in 2021.

The UConn product then spent two seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars before he was released by the team in March 2024.Now, Fatukasi will begin the next chapter of his career with the Raiders.

The veteran has played in 90 NFL games (60 starts), tallying 195 career tackles, 7.0 sacks, 28 tackles for loss, 24 quarterback hits, seven passes defended, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.He’s lined up as a defensive end, defensive tackle and nose tackle.Las Vegas typically employs a base 3-4 defense, meaning only one defensive tackle on the field.

But Maxx Crosby, who is back with the Silver and Black after a failed trade to the Ravens, rushes the passer despite being listed as a linebacker.The Raiders have Adam Butler and Benito Jones atop the depth chart at DT.Expect Fatukasi to immediately push for playing time as camp progresses....
