McDonalds teams up with iconic cartoon for Happy Meal collab

It’s a monster mash-up.A brand-new Happy Meal is crashing into McDonald’s with a few unexpected characters.The fast-food behemoth just rolled out its “Hello Kitty and Friends x Godzilla” collab on menus today.Each limited-time meal comes with one of eight toys in a brand new blending of Sanrio’s Hello Kitty characters and the monsters from the Godzilla movies.

The chain said its newest Happy Meal toys are “the ultimate crossover where Kawaii meets Kaiju, making friends at first bite and proving that even the mightiest monsters have a soft side.”Hello Kitty — who’s actually a little girl and not a cat — was created back in 1974 by Sanrio, a Japanese entertainment company.Back in 1954, Godzilla first appeared in a Japanese film “Gojira.” Two years later in 1956, it was adapted for American audiences in the film, “Godzilla, King of the Monsters.” Fans quickly became obsessed, and five American-made Godzilla movies have since been released.The offering features the classic McDonald’s Happy Meal, where customers choose between the burger or nuggets and sides.
