This Miami heat is breaking records.Miami hit a sweltering 100 degrees this week — tying the hottest temperature ever recorded in the city more than 80 years ago, meteorologists said Wednesday.The mercury soared into the triple digits Tuesday afternoon for the first time since July 21, 1942 as a dangerous heat gripped much of southern Florida, according to the National Weather Service.“Scorcher!” Florida meteorologist Matt Devitt said, according to the Miami Herald.“Today was the city’s hottest day in 84 years and only the second time reaching 100.”Residents baked in “feels-like” temperatures well over 100 degrees as health officials warned them to  avoid going outside during the hottest part of the day.West winds prevented the usual ocean breeze from developing along the coastline, which generally causes a cooling effect in the city, according to CBS Miami’s weather team. The Miami heat advisory ended at 7 p.m.Tuesday, and cooler temperatures were forecast for Wednesday, with 95 degrees and a chance of rain.The triple digits also broke the record of 96 for the day of  Aug.
