Carlos Alcaraz returning for US Open after long injury layoff

Carlos Alcaraz is back.After months of rehab and a very cautious ramp up, the seven-time Grand Slam winner will be back on the court for the U.S.

Open, which kicks off its main draw on Aug.30.

The 23-year-old made the announcement with soccer personality Fabrizio Romano on Instagram Thursday, writing the classic “HERE WE GO!”Alcaraz has been absent from the tour since April when he suffered a wrist injury at the Barcelona Open.Now, he will have a chance to defend his 2025 U.S.

Open title.For a while it felt unlikely that Alcaraz would be ready for the year’s final Grand Slam.His team has consistently been very cautious as fans have only seen videos of the Spainaird practicing on the court within the last month.Alcaraz also pulled out of the Cincinnati Open, a tune-up hard court tournament for the U.S.

Open, due to lingering worries surrounding the wrist injury.Earlier this year, Alcaraz completed a career Grand Slam at just 22-year-old by winning the Australia Open in January.

He became the youngest man in history to win all four titles.It’s hard to imagine Alcaraz returning to that form so quickly, but it will make for an interesting tournament in Queens — and one that also may or may not include Jannik Sinner, who is dealing with a knee problem....
