Giants vs. Dolphins prediction: NFL preseason picks, odds, best bets

The Giants and Dolphins already got plenty of work against each other during Thursday’s physical joint practice, which could make Saturday’s preseason matchup a snooze fest with a bunch of backups taking the field.John Harbaugh indicated afterward the workout that few, if any, Giants starters will see the field after getting a ton of reps against Miami on Thursday.“Certain guys, I’m sure, got enough work,” Harbaugh said. That should include Jaxson Dart, who took all of the first-team reps Thursday and helped the Giants dominate a practice that went heavily in Big Blue’s favor on both sides of the ball. The Giants’ pass rush was particularly impressive, overwhelming Miami’s offensive line and producing more than six unofficial sacks.Harbaugh called the performance “ferocious,” though he quickly added that his defense still has to prove it in a game. The Dolphins could have an even bigger problem once the starters leave.Backup quarterback Quinn Ewers is dealing with a groin injury suffered in last week’s 20-7 loss to the Commanders and is unlikely to play. His injury forced Miami to bring back Mark Gronowski, who had been waived earlier this month. It also remains unclear how much, if at all, starter Malik Willis will play after he handled the first-team work during Thursday’s joint practice. If Willis is held out or only gets a short cameo, the Dolphins could be forced to give most of their quarterback snaps to Cam Miller and Gronowski.Miller was brutal in the preseason opener, completing just three of 11 passes and throwing two interceptions, while Gronowski is still getting his feet back under him after rejoining the Dolphins’ roster. The Giants won’t have most of their starters either, but they should have the most trustworthy quarterback on the field for much of the afternoon.I’ll take Jameis Winston over Miller or Gronowski. The play: Giants -3.5 (-110, FanDuel Sportsbook)Dylan Svoboda is a versatile writer and analyst across many sports.H...
