Exclusive | Trump to visit Ireland next month for Irish Open at his golf course

WASHINGTON – President Trump will head to Ireland next month to visit the US embassy and celebrate the Irish Open at his Doonbeg golf course, a White House official told The Post on Sunday.Trump will be in the Emerald Isle on Sept.12 and 13, the final days of the Open, one of the top tournaments on the European tour.The president will also attend an event with embassy personnel and business officials in Dublin, the official said.More events may be added as his schedule is not finalized.But the highlight of the trip for the president will be his time at the Trump International Golf Links & Hotel in Doonbeg, County Clare, Ireland.The president’s five-star hotel and golf course sits along the west coast of Ireland.

Spanning over 400 acres along a 1.5-mile beach, the course was originally designed by legendary golfer Greg Norman.“It’s one of the best, most beautiful golf courses anywhere in the world,” Trump said in July.He mused at the time he might make the trip over for the tournament.  “We’re going to watch Rory and all the golf players.

And it’ll be something very, very special.”Northern Irish professional golfer Rory McIlroy, one of the president’s favorite golfers, is defending his title in Irish Open.McIlroy is also the reigning Masters champion with back-to-back wins in 2025 and 2026.He was one of the president’s guests at the April state dinner for King Charles III, which was just weeks after his second Masters win.

At the black tie White House event, Trump used his speech for visiting British royals to honor McIlroy, praising his “unconquerable courage” on the course“That was unconquerable courage.That was very good, Rory,” Trump said.

“Where is Rory McIlroy, can you stand up please? I don’t know if that helps them talk about how wonderful my speech is but I had to interrupt my speech because I watched that man win a tournament that was a tough, that was a tough one.Congratulations, very proud of you.
