Former champion Stan Wawrinka shares emotional goodbye message after US Open wild-card snub

Stan Wawarinka is saying goodbye to the U.S.Open with his head held high.

The 2016 U.S.Open champion shared an emotional farewell message on Instagram to the year’s final Grand Slam on Tuesday after the 41-year-old did not receive a wild card for the hard-court tournament in what is his final year on tour.“When I first arrived in New York from a small farming village in Switzerland, everything felt too bigThe city.The noise.The energy.The crowds.The lights,” he wrote as the caption.
