A 33-year-old man has been charged with public decency following a June incident on the Ferris wheel at Download Festival, where a couple was filmed engaging in sexual activity in full view of thousands of festivalgoers, The Sun reports.Ad 0:00 Click for sound 0:00 / 0:00 The incident, which took place inside one of the structure’s cabins as it rotated above the crowd, happened as fans gathered to watch Guns N’ Roses close out the night.
The lewd act was captured by festival attendees and footage spread quickly across social media.One witness recalled the moment unfolding in real time, noting that onlookers initially assumed the couple was simply embracing while taking in the view.
As the wheel descended, however, it became apparent something more was happening as cheering and raised phones reportedly took over the crowd.Local police at the time released an image of a man they wanted to locate, and confirmed that a woman had been identified and voluntarily interviewed.
Authorities initially appealed to the public for help identifying him, releasing a photo weeks before the charge was announced.The man, Innes Miller, has since been located and is now scheduled to appear at Leicester Magistrates’ Court on September 10th.
He was charged with outraging public decency, per The Sun.Download Festival, held annually at Donington Park, draws roughly 80,000 attendees each year.
