USS Abraham Lincoln to dock in Thailand after prolong deployment, officials say

The USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier is scheduled to dock in Thailand next week after a prolonged deployment in the Middle East, Thai officials said Tuesday.The Lincoln, which departed on Saturday and was plagued with reports of mental health concerns and poor conditions on board, has yet to make port after more than 200 days at sea.

The roughly 5,000 sailors and Marines aboard are scheduled to land in Thailand for some rest and relaxation, with no training exercises on their dockets, according to the Thai Navy.“The stop is ‌a ⁠routine port visit intended to allow personnel to rest and recuperate … as well as to receive logistical support,” the Thai Navy’s spokesperson said in a statement.The condition of the troops aboard the Lincoln made headlines earlier this month after the families of the soldiers raised concerns about the alleged deteriorating conditions on the aircraft carrier.The outrage reached a peak after the Navy Times and Stars and Stripes reported two suicide attempts aboard the ship and the ongoing decline in morale over the prolonged deployment.

Typical naval deployments last between six and nine months, with the Lincoln’s more than 200 days at sea setting a modern-day record for consecutive days at sea.The ship was deployed from San Diego on Nov.

21, 2025, and later redirected to the Middle East to support the war against Iran, which remains ongoing.Acting Navy Secretary Hung Cao and US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth downplayed the incidents on board and claimed the reports “completely misrepresented” the conditions on the Lincoln.
