Kyle Shanahan breaks silence on prostitution arrest of 49ers owner Jed York

Kyle Shanahan tried to keep it business as usual for the 49ers on Tuesday, the day after the bombshell story of team owner Jed York’s arrest broke.The San Francisco head coach spoke to the media after Tuesday’s training camp and the shocking news was quickly brought up.

“I think that’s kind of irrelevant to our guys,” Shanahan said, referring to his players.York allegedly paid a woman $140 for sex after responding to an ad on a known prostitution website in Columbiana County, Ohio.

He was booked into the county jail on two separate charges and cut a plea deal with prosecutors Monday.York reportedly pinged the fake sex ad multiple times under an alias.Shanahan revealed he’s spoken to York about the incident.“I got to talk to Jed the last two days and today.Obviously it’s a very tough situation… it’s extremely fresh, it’s a very, very personal situation,” Shanahan said.

“I got a lot of respect for Jed.I got a lot of respect for [his ex-wife] Danielle.

Their family does mean a lot to me.With it being this personal I’m trying my very best to keep it that way.”As for whether York will take a step back or become less of a presence this season, Shanahan said it’s already been that way.“It’s been like that this summer anyways,” he said.

“It’s the same as always.Jed is as good as it gets since I’ve been here in letting the football people make football decisions.”...
