Giants downplay Malik Nabers injury scare after final practice drill

Observations from Wednesday’s Giants practice:The forgotten man in the receiver discussion — 2022 playoff star Isaiah Hodgins, who returned to the Giants late last season — made an off-balance one-handed catch on the sideline and got his feet down before falling out of bounds.He also caught a 2-point conversion pass.

Darnell Mooney and Odell Beckham Jr.were also very involved, with Beckham catching a touchdown pass on a similar route to his end zone drop against the Dolphins.The Giants had two false starts during the move-the-ball period as QB Jaxson Dart toyed with a hard count that seems to be doing more harm than good.Players were excited to see Dominic Zvada and Ben Sauls in a field goal battle that stretched to 69-yard attempts, which matches the NFL preseason record set last week by the Chiefs’ Harrison Butker and tops the regular-season record (68).

The longest kicks were missed.“But to see them both make 60-plus yarders in a contest was pretty fun,” head coach John Harbaugh said.WR Malik Nabers unexpectedly left practice during the final drill — walking side by side with return-to-play coordinator Allie Boudreau into the facility — but Harbaugh said he would have heard after practice if there was an injury.DT Shelby Harris worked on the side with a trainer during team drills.
