A New York City-based Girl Scouts of the USA employee is suing the organization and her female boss whom she claims tried to bully her out of her job after she learned she was pregnant.Munirah Samuel, 33, started working for the nonprofit best known for its wildly popular cookies as a customer experience analyst in November 2025.She still remains employed there.She met with her supervisor Catherine Contrera once a week and received glowing feedback about her work performance from her hiring until February 2026, she alleged in the Aug.

Contrera, a senior manager of customer service experience, even acted excited when Samuel announced she was pregnant in February.“Contrera’s initial reaction was congratulatory and enthusiastic,” Samuel claimed in the lawsuit, adding that Contrera said she “wanted to keep her” and hoped she’d return after maternity leave. But the Bronx-based supervisor “abruptly” changed her tune at Samuel’s midyear review in April. There were no signs of dissatisfaction during Samuel’s weekly check-ins, she claimed.Contrera “for the first time” said she wasn’t happy with Samuel’s performance – accusing her of falling behind even though her work proved that she was performing above expectations, the suit claims.One of Contrera’s alleged gripes with Samuel was that she was working too slowly.
But Samuel contends that her work-performance statistics showed she was resolving her customer service cases within 20 to 30 minutes, far below the standardized six hours employees were allotted to complete them. When Samuel, who works remotely from her Brooklyn home, tried defending herself, Contrera allegedly slammed her as “combative.” “The sudden emergence of these manufactured concerns — immediately after [Samuel]’s pregnancy became known — reflects Contrera’s discriminatory animus,” the filing reads.
