Dismissed TCU safety Jacob Fields arrested on assault charge after allegedly attacking teammate
Former TCU safety Jacob Fields was arrested on Sunday.Fields — who was dismissed from the team on Aug.
18 after an alleged altercation with a teammate — was charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury, according to ESPN.His agent, Phillip Miller, told the outlet that Field turned himself in and is being held at Tarrant County Jail in Fort Worth, Texas, and that he is expected to be released on bond on Sunday.Fields is accused of punching TCU receiver Dozie Ezukanma in the locker room earlier this month.
TCU general manager Ryan Dorchester subsequently reported the incident to the police.In a since-deleted video posted on Instagram, Ezukanma alleged that Fields knocked him unconscious with a “sucker-punch.”“Cause I do you bad at practice, this is what you do to your teammates?” Ezukanma said in the video.Miller previously disputed the allegation.“Like much of what circulates online, a significant portion of what has been shared on social media regarding this situation is false or purely speculative,” Miller wrote on X.
“Jacob Fields and his family have not nor will have any further comment on the situation.Jacob misses TCU, his teammates, coaches and the relationships he built there.
He was a good student, a hard worker and competitor who built many meaningful friendships during his time at TCU.“He is grateful for the opportunity the university gave him.While disappointed, Jacob understands that given the circumstances, it was in the best interest of all parties to move forward.
