Florida deputy of the year resigns after claims he tracked ex with Flock cameras, used N-word, did Nazi salute

A Florida “Deputy of the Year” resigned after an internal police probe revealed he tracked his ex-girlfriend with Flock cameras, used a gun during sex, used the N-word in text messages and performed a Nazi salute, according to reports.Michael Fultz, 24, resigned as a deputy with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office as the department was preparing to fire him for “egregious misconduct,” News6 reported.Seven months after Fultz was hired as a probationary deputy, in April 2025, Fultz shot a suicidal man who charged at him with a knife — prompting the sheriff’s office to honor him as the 2025 Deputy of the Year and award him a Medal of Valor, the outlet reported.
But after a March award ceremony to announce his newest accolades, Fultz’s ex-girlfriend sent an email to the sheriff’s office detailing a slew of allegations against the deputy.“My intention in providing this information is not to pursue personal retaliation but to ensure the agency is aware of conduct that, in my understanding, may conflict with departmental policies or professional standards,” she wrote in an email, per records obtained by the outlet.The ex-girlfriend gave investigators images of Fultz placing a gun — which resembled an agency-issued handgun — in her mouth and pointing it at the back of her head while they had consensual sex, records showed.
Fultz claimed the gun was his personal gun, but “admitted to ignoring all firearm safety he had received,” investigators wrote.The ex-girlfriend also handed investigators screenshots from a FaceTime call, where she claimed Fultz was masturbating in a patrol car while in uniform.He denied that claim.The unidentified woman also alleged that the deputy had discussed watching her using the agency’s Flock camera license-plate reader system.
