Gallianos Met Gala exit: Letters to the Editor Sept. 3, 2026

The Issue: John Galliano dropping out of the Met Gala following outcry over past antisemitic remarks.Though she has taken her high place in fashion and New York society, Anna Wintour screwed up (“ ‘Wintour’ storm at hater,” Sept.1).The illogical idea to exhibit John Galliano’s fashion and art is an affront to everyone in the city.

Although New York City has always been known for its tolerance, she has pushed it too far for any self-respecting human being to support her.There are other places Galliano can go to be celebrated.With many of the Met’s patrons being Jewish, this gala should not be one of them.Alan SwartzVerona, NJOur education taught us the history of the Holocaust.
