One concerned raver has decided the real threat to the culture isn’t overpriced water bottles or sleazeballs in smart glasses, but rather Hello Kitty pajama pants.A new Change.org petition has set its sights on what its author, Samantha Scott, calls a “crisis”: ravers showing up in Hello Kitty pajama pants.
Somewhere along the way, she argues, festival fashion took a detour through the PJ aisle at Target.“Raves are not sleepovers.
Pajama pants are for bed,” the petition reads.“Showing up in mass-produced sleepwear is not self-expression, it’s laziness.
Hello Kitty pants say you got dressed in the dark and called it a fit.” Scott says her appeal “is about standards,” which is up for interpretation considering the generational tug-of-war happening here.Gen Z ravers have embraced comfort as its own form of rebellion, rocking oversized tees and baggy jorts while Millennials remember when rave culture somehow meant furry boots and kandi bracelets stacked to the elbow.
Whether this petition gains traction or quietly disappears into the internet’s landfill is anyone’s guess.But not really: it has collected only nine signatures since launching back in March.
