Magic Johnson sees plenty of winning in the Angels’ future under Stan Kroenke.The Lakers legend and Dodgers minority owner congratulated his longtime friend after Kroenke agreed to purchase the Angels from Arte Moreno, offering an endorsement Angels fans should enjoy hearing — even if it came from someone connected to their crosstown rival.“I want to congratulate my good friend Stan Kroenke on becoming the new owner of MLB’s Los Angeles Angels!” Johnson wrote on social media.Johnson pointed directly to Kroenke’s championship résumé, mentioning the Rams’ Super Bowl, the Avalanche’s Stanley Cup and the Nuggets’ NBA championship.“I’m sure he will do the same with the Angels,” Johnson wrote.That prediction carries some extra intrigue considering Johnson owns a minority stake in the Dodgers, the organization that has dominated Southern California baseball while the Angels have endured more than a decade without a postseason appearance.Johnson isn’t alone in believing Kroenke could change that trajectory.Mike Trout called his track record “a good sign” after researching the incoming owner and expressed excitement about bringing a winning culture back to Anaheim.Then Johnson slipped in a considerably less conventional reason for knowing Kroenke well.“BTW — Cookie and I wanna thank Stan and his wife Ann for allowing us to rent their beautiful yacht named Aquila for 7 years!”Beautiful might be underselling it.Aquila is a 281-foot superyacht capable of accommodating 12 guests with a crew of 28.
