Josh Jacobs court date moved up and it could have big Packers ramifications

A key hearing in Josh Jacobs’ criminal battery case has been moved up, and the rescheduling has many Packers fans wondering what it means for the future of the team’s star tailback.Wisconsin court records viewed by The California Post on Friday show Jacobs’ initial appearance proceedings that were slated for Nov.17 are now set to go down on Sept.

10.No reason was given for the rearrangement — messages seeking comment from the Brown County District Attorney’s Office as well as reps for Jacobs were not returned — but the matter could nonetheless have big ramifications for Jacobs’ 2026-27 season.If Jacobs’ case gets closed out via a plea deal, it could pave the way for him to play for the Packers right away.However, if it’s not disposed, Jacobs could remain on the commissioner’s exempt list for the foreseeable future.It’s not yet clear if Jacobs will appear at the court hearing, though a filing he submitted Friday stated he was authorizing his attorneys “to appear and act on my behalf in any manner and with leave of the court.”Jacobs is facing one misdemeanor count of battery and one misdemeanor count of criminal damage to property after authorities allege in a criminal complaint that he roughed up his girlfriend during a May 23 dispute at his Brown County home.Prosecutors allege Jacobs and the woman got into a spat after she accused him of “talking to other girls.” At one point during the tiff, Jacobs allegedly threw the woman to the ground, causing her a head injury.

Jacobs also allegedly took the woman’s phone and damaged it.A portion of the incident, if not all of it, was captured on video, prosecutors wrote in the complaint.Jacobs was arrested over the incident on May 26 and was formally charged on Aug.27.
