Phillies Alec Bohm settles lawsuit against parents to end legal battle

Months after Alec Bohm sued his parents, their contentious legal battle is finally over.The Phillies infielder and his mother and father — Lisa and Daniel Bohm — reached a settlement nearly six months after Bohm filed a lawsuit accusing them of mismanaging millions of dollars he earned during his professional baseball career.Gary DeVito, an attorney representing Bohm, confirmed the settlement to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

He noted that the terms are confidential.An attorney representing Daniel and Lisa Bohm also confirmed that the case was settled but declined further comment.Bohm, who is making $10.2 million in 2026, originally sought a judgment of at least $3 million, along with the return of money he alleged his parents used for themselves and an accounting of his finances.The dispute dates back to 2019.According to the lawsuit, Daniel and Lisa told their son they needed a 10 percent ownership interest on paper in two LLCs established to hold his earnings in order to manage them on his behalf, while Bohm would remain the true owner of the assets.Bohm alleged his parents subsequently transferred millions from his personal accounts into accounts controlled through the LLCs and “converted to their own use” an unspecified amount.The 30-year-old also accused them of using money from the Alec Bohm Foundation to cover personal expenses, according to the lawsuit, allegations his parents denied.The corner infielder’s “apparent lack of knowledge” over his finances “emanates solely from his own lack of attention and interest,” the parents said in a court document, as reported in the Inquirer.“He had been perfectly happy to have Mom and Dad do all of the work, while he focused on baseball and enjoyed an otherwise carefree life,” the filing said.The dispute intensified in May over $528,618 that Bohm’s parents transferred from an LLC money-market account into their attorney’s trust account.Bohm alleged the money was taken to cover anticipated legal e...
