Victims families still donating devastating artifacts to 9/11 Memorial & Museum including fateful boarding pass, FDNY shield

One month after losing his mother, Jason Seymour received a mystery package at his California home.Inside was the boarding pass that his mom, Jacqueline “June” Norton, had used to board American Airlines Flight 11 at Boston’s Logan International Airport on the morning of Sept.11, 2001, on her way to Los Angeles with her husband, Robert.From there, they were set to travel on to Santa Barbara for Seymour’s wedding four days later.The ticket was tucked inside her purse and is one of the few intact personal effects found after the plane carrying 92 passengers and crew members was flown by hijackers into the North Tower of the World Trade Center.

“It’s the most jaw-dropping thing.It was literally on the plane when it went into the tower, which is just crazy.

Because of the destruction of the towers, obviously there’s not very many items that survived,” Seymour told The Post.“To think of the fragility of a boarding pass surviving that explosion is just kind of crazy … it’s kind of a miracle.”The pass is one of hundreds of artifacts connected to that day that have been recently loaned or donated to the 9/11 Memorial & Museum.Seymour likened it to “two tickets from the Titanic.”He suspects the tattered pocketbook, which also contained Norton’s cellphone, Tiffany pen and a newspaper clipping containing a poem about tolerance, was sucked out of the plane and found on a nearby rooftop by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.Seymour decided to loan it to the museum this year so that visitors are reminded of how normal the victims were.“It’s one of those things that everybody pictures: their mom with a purse,” he said.Darlene Keohane’s decided to donate her brother’s shoes for a similar reason.
