No, they didn’t spend $2 million renovating a house just for their dog — despite what many may think.Howard and Suze Rubin are listing their midcentury-modern Pound Ridge retreat for $2.9 million — and pushing back on a viral narrative that they poured a cool $2 million into the property solely for Buster, their 9-year-old bearded collie.“We didn’t spend $2 million renovating the house for the dog,” Howard Rubin told The Post.He said the renovation bill covered a sweeping overhaul of the property — from major mechanical systems and appliances to internet infrastructure and an additional garage that cost a few hundred thousand dollars on its own.Headlines regarding their listing even prompted angry messages from people criticizing the couple for supposedly spending millions on their dog while others were struggling.But listing agent Sally Slater of Douglas Elliman, who has worked with the Rubins for more than 25 years, said the upgrades have to do with Rubin’s own personal nature.“He’s so meticulous in his whole thinking,” Slater told The Post.The property has 16 cameras monitoring the house and grounds, two full-size house generators in case one fails and two separate internet feeds.Rubin even installed a termite protection system despite an inspection finding no termite problem.Rubin, a professor emeritus of computer science at Hunter College and founder and CEO of technology research and advisory firm Rubin Worldwide, has a simple explanation: “I just like things to work.”Buster still got plenty of perks when the couple renovated the spread.The four-bedroom, 3½-bath home, spanning 4,442 square feet on 2.76 acres, is fully fenced to keep Buster safely separated from deer and coyotes, with pet-friendly turf and plenty of shade.Because Buster likes the water but isn’t much of a swimmer, the couple reworked the pool with a shallow sun shelf where he can splash around.Indoors, there are nine TVs throughout, and Rubin said Buster likes to p...
