Lindsay Clancys complex case: Letters to the Editor Sept. 10, 2026

The law that gives the jury the task of deciding whether Lindsay Clancy was insane or not is wrong (“Hit with mistrial mess,” Sept.5).Juries should only decide the facts of the crime.

Judges should apply the insanity issue at sentencing.They are far more equipped and experienced to deal with the nuances of this situation.Gary MarkmanBeacon Falls, Conn.Like so many others, I assumed Clancy was guilty until I started watching the trial.

Now I believe that she is innocent.I am utterly shocked at how the mainstream media is not investigating what happened to her and supporting innocent until proven guilty.Even limited exposure to the trial is enough to give someone reasonable doubt.Other than a seemingly coached confession she gave while on medication and in the midst of ICU delirium, there is not enough evidence against her.

Even if it was premeditated, only a sick mind would have such thoughts and follow through.Clancy was under the influence of a multitude of psychotropic medications that can change brain chemistry.If anyone is responsible for the deaths of Clancy’s children, it is the prescribers.
